AutoFocus Detroit owner, Jay K. Owen, began his automotive
advertising sales career in 1986 as a rookie sales rep for
the Auto and Boat Weekly in Chicago, IL. Soon thereafter
the Tradin'Times-Chicago enlisted him to sell auto ads for
their product. Sales grew so rapidly that Owen was required
to recruit assistants to aid him in photographing the 70
full pages of advertising they were soon generating. Within
4 years Tradin' Times had become the dominant used car
advertising paper in the Chicago automotive market.
In late 1992, O.W.E.N., Inc., as his sales organization
came to be known, took advantage of a new opportunity which
had been presented by the Chicago Tribune. The Tribune
wanting to expand their auto classified section and a
larger piece of the used car advertising pie drafted the
O.W.E.N. team to be the exclusive sales force for their new
automotive advertising magazine, the Auto Finder. O.W.E.N.,
Inc's success was evident as the Tribune grew its
auto-classified section from a meager 1,000 classifieds to
over 4,000 each Sunday. By mid-1996, when O.W.E.N.'s
contract with the Tribune expired, the Auto Finder had
become the leader in used car advertising in Chicagoland.
O.W.E.N., Inc. frustrated over its inability to have an impact on both distribution and the production of the various products it had represented made the decision, which gave birth to the most successful used vehicle advertising product in the history of Chicago... AUTOFOCUS.
Color, classified by vehicle make, large tabloid format and
consumer friendly was what set AUTOFOCUS apart from its
competitors from Day One. AUTOFOCUS made shopping for a new
or used vehicle easy and less time consuming to the
prospective buyer while at the same time offering
automobile dealers the most comprehensive, inexpensive and
effective automotive advertising and marketing tool ever
devised. After unparalleled success and the meteoric growth
of AUTOFOCUS Chicago, Owen decided that his concepts and
vision could be duplicated and even improved in automotive
markets throughout the U.S. Detroit, America's automotive
mega center, was the next logical location.
On October 1, 2001 the first issue of AUTOFOCUS Detroit was released. Since that time AUTOFOCUS Detroit has become Detroit's #1 target marketed automotive publication. With distribution in over 2,000 locations AUTOFOCUS Detroit in only 2 years has become the primary source for auto buyers and auto dealers in and around Metro Detroit. AutoFocusDetroit.com is a natural extension and powerful addition to AUTOFOCUS Detroit magazine and increases its ability to provide the finest resource available for both auto shoppers and auto sellers.
Unlike many auto websites, AutoFocusDetroit.com is
populated with vehicles that are for sale in Detroit and
the surrounding suburbs and counties. It includes only local cars, trucks,
vans & suv's for Metro Detroit buyers. Designed to be both
dealer and consumer friendly, AutofocusDetroit.com has the
functionality to help the Motown car shopper find the 'right'
vehicle for the 'right' price quickly. AUTOFOCUS Detroit
magazine and AutoFocusDetroit.com the Motor City's first
choice for the finest cars, trucks, 4x4's, SUV's and vans
at the very best prices.
Leveraging its experience with AUTOFOCUS Detroit and its reputation in Chicagoland, Owen has launched Windy City Wheels Magazine and culminated a long journey back to where it all began.
